Aqualiner Fresh Pioneer Water Tanks tank liner

Pioneer Water Tanks, AQUALINER Fresh® antimicrobial tank liner is a world’s first to keep your water fresher, for longer.

For families across the world relying on the quality of tank water for their daily use and consumption, this means for the first time, being able to enjoy the additional peace of mind that comes with fresher, purer and cleaner water, thanks to the use of antimicrobial technology on the inside lining of Pioneer water tanks.

The AQUALINER Fresh® is manufactured utilizing a patented three-layer process that adheres a PP Multifilament Base with a Polyethylene Film on the surface.

  • The PP base, PP/PE Coating, and PE Film are all bound together through a process called Extrusion Coating.

  • The PP Multifilament Base provides strength, flexibility, and dimensional stability.

  • The PE Film provides toughness, water resistance, and heat seal characteristics.

  • Sanitized Technology is inherent in the Black Polyethylene Film that touches the water.

“The AQUALINER Fresh® tank liner is the culmination of Pioneer’s 30 years’ local and international experience in water storage and a result of our continuous drive to improve the way we store water for the benefit of our customers. Water quality is an important global issue and we know it’s one of the most important factors people consider when buying a water tank” said Daniel Wyatt, General Manager, Pioneer Water Tanks.

Ensuring the quality of your water is incredibly important!

The Aqualiner Fresh® features excellent flexibility, high tensile strength, waterproof, and good abrasion resistance. The reliable liner Black PE film has Sanitized® treatment embedded into the top layer that touches the water, which prevents bacterial/microbial growth.

The ideal liner fabric used in water tanks is a balance and compromise of all the solutions that address the key criteria.

In designing a suitable liner fabric, some of the key criteria that need to be considered are:

• Flexibility
• Abrasion-resistant
• Tear and tensile strength
• Chemical resistance
• Fabric Weight
• Shrink resistance/ stability
• Waterproofness

The above graph demonstrates the estimated value against each of the key criteria considered during design and evaluation of AQUALINER Fresh®

AQUALINER Fresh® is the first water tank liner to be embedded with Sanitized® antimicrobial technology. The black PE film layer of the AQUALINER Fresh® that touches the water is embedded with antimicrobial protection by Sanitized®.

This treatment has the following features.

• Keeps your water fresher for longer
• Prevents bacterial and microbial growth
• NSF-61 Certified for drinking water storage
• Developed with Collaboration with Gale Pacific; CE Bartlett Pty Ltd and Pioneer Water Tanks
• World Class Protection Additive
• Patented Technology

Fabric constructed from a weave is the most practical method to achieve the desired tear and tensile strength for a liner fabric. A fabric without a weave will continue to stretch when the tank is filled (particularly if the tank wall is corrugated) and then relax when the water level drops. The water level in a tank will rise and drop several times throughout the lifetime of the liner, thus resulting in a thinner and less secure liner over time. This is why the Aqualiner Fresh features the proprietary weave made of high tenacity multifilament Polypropylene.

The AQUALINER Fresh® remains waterproof and retains shape under high pressure due to weave structure.

Other tank liners that don’t utilize a weave, stretches at any weak point. Once the stretching starts, it continues in this area thus making the fabric thinner and thinner and weaker and weaker. Until it finally bursts.

The Aqualiner Fresh® tank liner used in Pioneer Water Tanks, is third party NSF 61 certified for drinking water storage. The National Safety Foundation standards for drinking water are developed by a team of scientists and industry experts to guarantee products worldwide.

The NSF/ANSI 61 Drinking Water System certification is accepted worldwide and is applicable for drinking water across North America.

WORLD-FIRST ANTIMICROBIAL WATER TANK LINER

The multi-generational AQUALINER® fabric has been a mainstay of the Pioneer Water Tanks 30-year success story and legendary water holding performance. The new fabric retains the Globally Patented Multi-layered PP/PE textile with a spun-woven multifilament polypropylene (PP) scrim construction (WO 2007/070917).

The use of antimicrobial protection in a tank liner is the world’s first use of this technology in this application, and our Australian manufacturer of the fabric has applied for an additional Patent to protect this innovation. The patent application has been accepted and its current status is “Patent Pending 2017902908”.

Pioneer has back to back exclusivity agreements with everyone in the liner fabric supply chain to ensure exclusive supply of this product to Pioneer, and Pioneer is the only steel liner tank company in the world who has access to this technology for this application.

Some larger capacity and or taller wall height Pioneer Water Tank installations may require the proprietary jacking system.

Prior to starting construction with the proprietary jacking system, the following important points must be given consideration.

• Everyone who is involved in the building of the tank must be given through instructions on their responsibilities regarding the construction and safe working practices.

• The ring beam must be constructed to Pioneer Water Tanks specifications and has it been allowed to cure fully before starting construction.

• Tanks should never be built in very windy conditions, as this will increase the potential for personal injury and damage to components and equipment.

• If you are stopping work because of strong winds make sure that all loose items are secured.

• The jack base plates must be fully supported on the ring beam and not overhang the edge of the concrete.

• Check that the mechanical anchors are installed as per the instructions supplied and have been fully tightened before operating the jacking system.

• Only the specified grade (8.8) bolts are to be used to connect the lifting brackets to the tank wall.

• Tanks should never be left supported on jacks at the end of a shift. Tanks must be lowered down onto the ring beam, although it is advisable to keep some tension on the winch cables to give added stability to the tank wall.

Safety is one of the cornerstones of how we do business at Pioneer Water Tanks.

At Pioneer Water Tanks, we believe our tanks can be manufactured and installed without causing harm to any of our employees, distributors or customers.

CEMENT RING BEAM SITE PREPARATION

Concrete ring beams are used for commercial and some rural and light industrial water tanks to support the wall and also to hold the tank down during storms and cyclones. Ring beams may also be specified for tanks that are to be constructed on aggressive, acidic soils or where there is a risk of water or wind erosion of the foundation materials.

Each model of Pioneer Water Tank has an exact cement ring beam dimensions and details that are outlined in our engineering packages. At the time of your order, a specific ring beam drawing will be issued for the project requirements. It’s recommended that there is strict adherence to these specifications for the best performance of the tank.

This short video shows a cement ring beam being installed for a 51,785-Gallon Pioneer Water Tank in Nothern California.

The ring beam drawings specify the size, number and spacing of the reinforcing bars and ligatures to be used as well as the MPA rating for the concrete. Ring beams should be as level as possible and have no more than +/- 1/16” over any 5’0” (+/- 2mm over any 2m) of the circumference at the tank wall position and +/- 1/8” (+/- 4mm) over the entire ring beam. A survey chart will need to be completed and returned to your local installer for approval before the construction is started.

It is very important for the local Pioneer Water Tanks installer to ensure that foundation conditions are adequate. All water storage systems are subject to the local authority requirements so Pioneer Water Tanks also recommends local installers adhere to that authority for the tank location.

In some cases, a sand pad can be used for projects based on the application, location and local authority requirements. Click below to see more.
