Engineered Water Storage Systems
Tank Body Engineering
The 65,000-Gallon Pioneer Water Tanks model is engineered in accordance with NFPA 22 and AS2304 water storage tanks for fire systems.
The wind design parameters are:
- Importance level 2 (Normal Structures)
- 25 year design life (200 year recurrence interval)
- Region B
- Terrain Category 3
- Structure height < 5 metres (16.4ft)
- Topographical and shielding factors = 1.0
- Basic regional wind velocity = 51.8ms-1 (115.9mph)
- Resulting design pressure = 1.00kPa (20.9psf)
The tank body of the XLE engineered Pioneer Water Tanks system is Grade 300MPa (44,000psi) steel sheets, profiled and fabricated according to the PIONEER V-LOCK® wall panel design.
The tank wall sheets are bolted horizontally to each other and vertically to column supports. Nominal sheet dimensions are 2.2m (7.2ft) x 1.1m (3.6ft).
Wall panel sheets are pre-curved for each tank size to achieve the required circumference. Tank walls are comprised of two stacked rings. An overflow outlet is placed in one upper wall panel to account for design seismic sloshing effects. The overflow outlet height varies by tank size.
Dome Roof Engineering
The dome roof system of the XLE engineered Pioneer Water Tanks system is BlueScope Zincalume® Steel sheets fastened to the SHS roof structure and to the top flange of panel walls.
XLE water tanks have a 0.42mm thick Grade 550MPA (79,800psi) roofing sheets.
The roof supporting steelwork is galvanized, welded Vierendeel trusses with Square Hollow Section (SHS) chords and web members. SHS members are Grade 350MPA (51,000psi) steel.
The roof trusses are attached to the top wall panel flange with a swivel foot and bolt assembly.
