Pacific Northwest Pioneer Water Tanks

Durable Water Storage Solutions for the Pacific Northwest

Pioneer Water Tanks offer storage for off-grid water systems. Municipal water grids supply homes with pre-treated, pressurized water distribution, and going off-grid requires replacement. Pioneer Water Tanks are configurable for well water, rainwater harvesting systems, fire protection, and more.

The estimated average that a person uses is around 80-100-gallons of water per day. Some areas require a reserve for fire protection on top of daily use. Pioneer Water Tanks offer the ability to configure accessories for fire protection on top of daily needs.

Tank factors to consider

Fire Reserve

This is a volume of water that is always readily available in the event of fighting fire. Commonly this can be up to 5,000 gallons.

Irrigation

When looking to irrigate, factors such as water source, harvesting capacity, and usage volume will all need to be considered.

Water Source

Harvesting water from a roof, filling up from a bore or dam will impact the size of water storage tank that will be most optimal for you.

Rainwater Harvesting

The size of your roof catchment area, in addition to your annual rainfall will determine how much water you can harvest.

Domestic Usage

Having an idea of what domestic functions you intend to connect to your tank and how often each will be used will be advantageous.

Total Volume

It’s better to have water and not need it, than to need water and not have it. It may pay to install a bigger tank to mitigate running out of water.

Dual Use Water Tanks

Pioneer Water Tanks are cost-effective for dual purposes and are approved for use in the Pacific Northwest. Dual-service water storage tanks can be used for fire protection, irrigation, potable drinking water, and other applications.

Ensure an adequate water supply is ready in case of an emergency with the appropriate fire connections for residential and commercial needs.

This is typically achieved with two separate plumbing systems implemented with the water tank. The plumbing pipe for the separate use does not extend below the water elevation that is reserved for fire protection.

We can deliver and install water storage tanks from 10,000 to 1,000,000 gallons. Pioneer Water Tanks are backed by our industry-leading 20-year warranty so you can rest easy knowing you have a water storage solution that will last.

Pioneer Water Tanks are approved for use in the Pacific Northwest for fire protection and drinking water storage. Combining several uses into one dual-use water tank saves money as compared to buying two separate water storage systems.

Our standpipe or external fitting options divert the additional water supply to ensure that it doesn’t affect the required mandated usable water capacity for fire protection. We offer commercial accessory options to comply with local requirements.

  • Cost-effective dual purpose tank for multiple water needs
  • Complies with NFPA requirements for fire protection water tanks

Rainwater Harvesting in Washington

Rainwater harvesting is legal in Washington from a building rooftop with the water utilized on the property for outdoor, non-potable use. The State of Washington Department of Ecology stated that rainwater harvesting doesn’t require a water permit as long as a few conditions don’t apply. Rainwater must be used on the property where it was collected. Rainwater can only be collected from existing building rooftops that have another purpose other than harvesting water.

– The rainwater system cannot negatively affect existing water rights in the area.
– Local restrictions may be developed to govern new systems, including for potable applications.
Washington Revised Code §36.89.080 offers the ability to reduce surface and stormwater fees by 10-50% that utilize rainwater harvesting. Systems are regulated by the Washington State Building Code: Chapter 16 Non-potable rainwater catchment systems.
