Mendocino County Water Storage Tanks

Approved for Use in Mendocino County for Drinking Water and Fire Protection

Buildings in Mendocino require fire sprinkler systems and compliance with the local fire authority requirements. If fire flow is not achieved with the providing water supply, additional water storage may be needed for fire code compliance.

Our team understands Mendocino County permitting and requirements, so you’ll up-and-running with a massive amount of water stored safely in a high-quality Pioneer Water Tank within weeks.

Under Public Resources Code 4290, if a specified development takes place on State Responsibility Areas, it’s mandated by law to apply to Cal Fire authority for the area. Cal Fire reviews applications to see if the development meets Fire Safe Regulations and comes up with requirements for developments that don’t meet the criteria such as a supplemental water supply.

We offer fire flow water storage solutions that comply with the Mendocino County requirements, NFPA standards for fire protection as well as the California Fire Code and the California Building Standards Code.

Once your application with Cal Fire is approved, you must comply with the requirements of the Preliminary Clearance during the construction and operation of the project.

Once the project has been constructed, but before occupancy or use, you must pass the Final Inspection to obtain the Occupancy Permit.

Mendocino County Fire Protection

We offer fire flow water storage solutions that comply with the Mendocino County requirements, NFPA standards for fire protection as well as the state of California Fire Code and California Building Standards Code.

Pioneer Water Tanks are approved for use in California for fire protection and drinking water storage. Combining several uses into one dual-use water tank saves money as compared to buying two separate water storage systems.

Our standpipe or external fitting options diverts the additional water supply to ensure that it doesn’t affect the required mandated usable water capacity for fire protection. We offer commercial accessory options to comply with local requirements.

We can help with permitting with our optional engineering packages.

Cal Fire Preliminary Clearance may include emergency water supply specifications that are necessary to obtain the Occupancy Permit. These can include supplementing the existing water supply (fire flow) or creating a water supply where utility water hookups are not yet available.

Tank factors to consider

Fire Reserve

This is a volume of water that is always readily available in the event of fighting fire. Commonly this can be up to 5,000 gallons.

Irrigation

When looking to irrigate, factors such as water source, harvesting capacity, and usage volume will all need to be considered.

Water Source

Harvesting water from a roof, filling up from a bore or dam will impact the size of water storage tank that will be most optimal for you.

Rainwater Harvesting

The size of your roof catchment area, in addition to your annual rainfall will determine how much water you can harvest.

Domestic Usage

Having an idea of what domestic functions you intend to connect to your tank and how often each will be used will be advantageous.

Total Volume

It’s better to have water and not need it, than to need water and not have it. It may pay to install a bigger tank to mitigate running out of water.

Dual Use Water Tanks

Pioneer Water Tanks are cost-effective for dual purposes and are approved for use in California. Dual-service water storage tanks can be used for fire protection, irrigation, potable drinking water, and other applications.

Ensure an adequate water supply is ready in case of an emergency with the appropriate fire connections for residential and commercial needs.

This is typically achieved with two separate plumbing systems implemented with the water tank. The plumbing pipe for the separate use does not extend below the water elevation that is reserved for fire protection.

We can deliver and install water storage tanks from 10,000 to 1,000,000 gallons. Pioneer Water Tanks are backed by our industry-leading 20-year warranty so you can rest easy knowing you have a water storage solution that will last.
